Traffic arbitrage is classified based on its source. There are six types of traffic:

  1. Direct - users manually enter the web resource address.
  2. Organic - visitors come from search engine results.
  3. Referral - transitions occur through links in applications, messengers, or partner sites.
  4. Paid - visitors land on the site after clicking on contextual or targeted advertising.
  5. Social media traffic - all users who come from social networks.
  6. Undefined - traffic whose origin is difficult to determine.
A significant portion of traffic arbitrage will be paid, as any advertising placement requires funding. However, if a specialist has their own platforms with high traffic - a website, personal page, Telegram channel, social media groups, or an email newsletter with a large number of subscribers - they attract users for free. This method allows entering arbitrage without initial capital.

Depending on the nature of the project, arbitrage can be "white" or "black":

  • "White" arbitrage involves legal methods of promotion allowed on the internet. They are applied for legal goods and services, online stores.
  • "Black" arbitrage uses dubious and prohibited methods of promotion, such as clickbait, unclosable windows, and circumventing advertising restrictions on social networks. Bookmakers, online casinos, or sellers of dietary supplements often resort to such methods.
